Ulver - Nostalgia
Ulver has always been a band that has some transcended the black metal scene into a more artistic realm, while still holding on to that early black metal credibility with new and old fans. With the latest album "Flowers of Evil" coming out soon, Ulver took the time to release a new track off the album entitled "Nostalgia" which gives the listening a haunting, yet mesmerizing peek into the flow of the album.
The song starts typically like most of the newer Ulver material, not upbeat but with a groove that only they know how to create. It's dark, it's funky, it's very groovy, and so many other genres you can list but when it comes down to it... the song is absolutely art. The thing Ulver has always been able to do so well is switch between genres and style but remain fresh and unique unlike most music acts around. This could be attributed to the themes that Ulver seems to focus on and the attention to their musicianship and song structure. Regardless of what it you try to narrow it down to, the song is absolutely amazing along with the album.
