Cult horror fans, this is the update we’ve been waiting on for years. Diablo Cody, the writer of the original film, says Jennifer’s Body 2 is happening “imminently.”

The Notes
- Cody says she has finished writing the sequel, according to Dread Central’s report on her appearance on the Petticoat Revolution podcast.
- Dread Central has also reported that Megan Fox and director Karyn Kusama are returning.
- A July report from the same outlet mentioned an October shoot, but Cody didn’t give a filming date this time.
- Kusama told Deadline last year that Cody was working on a sequel for 20th Century Studios, and Amanda Seyfried told Variety, “We’re making another one.”
- There’s no release date yet.
A sequel about Jennifer, not just her bite
What makes this news exciting is the angle. Cody sees Jennifer as lonely and insecure both before and after her transformation, and she says the new script explores that side of her. We remember Jennifer at her most dangerous. This could be the chance to meet the person underneath.
That fits what made the 2009 film endure. It started as a box-office disappointment and became one of horror’s biggest cult favorites, thanks to fans who kept finding it and championing it.
What we’re watching for
“Imminently” can mean a lot of things in Hollywood. Here’s what we’re waiting to see confirmed:
- An official studio announcement
- A confirmed start of production
- Cast confirmation, including Fox and Seyfried
- A release window
We’ll update this post as official news arrives.
