THE ALBUM
─────────────────────────────────
Killswitch Engage (2009) is the fifth studio album from the Massachusetts metalcore band — and the second album to bear the band's name as its title, making it one of the more confusing entries in any discography to track down. Produced by Adam Dutkiewicz and Brendan O'Brien, it debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200, selling 58,000 copies in its first week and becoming one of the band's highest-charting releases at the time.
It is also the last studio album to feature Howard Jones on lead vocals — making this pressing a document of a specific and irreplaceable chapter in the band's history. Jesse Leach, who sang on the band's first two albums, returned for Disarm the Descent in 2013. The Jones era — spanning The End of Heartache (2004), As Daylight Dies (2006), and this record — produced three of the most commercially successful metalcore albums of the decade, including two Gold certifications.
The album leans toward melody without abandoning the band's metalcore foundation. Starting Over and Reckoning were its primary singles. Take Me Away and Save Me followed. A Light in a Darkened World, The Return, and This Is Goodbye round out a record that, despite mixed critical reception at the time, has aged into a genuine document of where melodic metalcore stood at the end of the 2000s.
This Rocktober '26 Brick & Mortar Exclusive black vinyl pressing is available only through independent record stores and select retail partners — not through major chains or streaming platforms. Pre-order at $29.99 (regular price $34.99). Ships October 30, 2026.
